Nov 17 Program Meeting Report
The November 17th RAAVS meeting was facilitated by Clyde Taylor, president of Taylor Communications, a full-service marketing consulting firm in Fairport, NY. The firm works with companies and organizations in the areas of staff development, employee recruitment and retention, business and strategic planning, market research, retail merchandising, and marketing communications.
Taylor talked about being a consultant for many healthcare organizations within the volunteer services sector. He began focusing on volunteerism as a result of the incredible support he received from healthcare volunteers in Ohio following a tragic auto accident that involved his parents. Clyde presented many examples of both effective and ineffective website models for volunteer recruitment and discussed the importance of volunteers “putting themselves” into the respective organizations.
Clyde had a lot of material to present to the members and had limited time. However, he provided members with many tools to use in the recruitment of volunteers and encouraged members to contact him directly, after the meeting, with any questions they may have and/or to receive additional materials.
The meeting was attended by 34 RAAVS members. Adrienne Schleigh asked that members be sure to RSVP for the meetings so that the space and refreshment planning is accurate. Only 17 members said they were attending this meeting.
The member response to this meeting was overwhelmingly positive with 100% stating that they were taking something valuable from the meeting with them to their respective positions; those who completed evaluation forms rated it a 4.66 on a scale of 1 to 5.
